How to set up Notifications

Create notifications configurations to be notified of events which impact you

To be notified about events which impact you, you need to create a new Notification Configuration. Notification Configuration's tell the system what types of events and changes to notify you about. When you create a Notification Configuration you choose a notification type, a location, the categories and other filters. Once set up, the PredictHQ's Notification platform will notify you about changes to events.

Setting up event change notifications

When you first use the system you will see the screen below prompting you to set up your first notification. Click on "New Configuration" to set up your first configuration.

In the "Create new configuration" screen choose "Event change" to set up event change notifications. Event change notifications notify you when events in the location selected change or when new events are scheduled.

Enter a name for your notification configuration. It may be useful to put the location in your name to help to see at a glance the location these notifications are for.

Note: the locations, categories, ranks and future visibility you have access to are determined by your notifications subscription. If you enter a location you do not have access to you will not receive any notifications. Contact the PredictHQ sales team for any questions about your subscription or to get access to more data.

Location selection

For location you can select a place by name or a center point and a radius. The place name option is useful for selecting a town, city, county, state, region or country. The center point and radius is useful for selecting a location like a store or hotel when you want to be notified of events around that location. For example you could select a hotel in downtown Seattle with a 5 mile radius to be notified of events around your hotel that are located within the 5 mile radius you set.

To select a center point and radius, type the name of a street address, select that from the list and then set your radius. Or, you can click the option to "Provide lat/long" instead and enter the coordinates.

To define a location by place name simply enter the name of the town, city, county, state, or region. If you are seeing multiple options try adding the country or more information, like city and state.

Setting up aggregate event impact notifications

Event changes is one type of notification configuration you can set up. You can also set up notifications using our aggregate event impact feature. By using Aggregate Event Impact, you can be alerted when a predetermined threshold of demand is met. For example, you can set a to be alerted whenever more than 20,000 attendees will be in a location you've select for events. This means that if there are any days that have events that in aggregate bring in more than 20,000 people to a given area, you’ll be notified, giving you insight into the peak days immediately so you can plan accordingly.

To start, select "New Configuration". In the "Create new configuration", similar to the above scenario, enter a name for your notification configuration. In this example, let's name it "Peak days in New York City".

Next, you'll select the Notifications Type. Choose "Aggregate event impact" to set up aggregate event impact(AEI) notifications.

If you need help determining what threshold makes the most sense for your business, please reach out to the PredictHQ team and we'll be happy to provide guidance.

Next, you'll select what type of rank you'd like to set the threshold for. You can set up to be notified for an AEI threshold for either PHQ Rank or Aviation Rank. The threshold for PHQ Rank is based on predicted attendance and is the aggregate impact and the AEI for Aviation Rank is the aggregated impact specific to airline demand.
