What do I need in order to use Signals?

For Signals to work optimally, there are a few essentials we need from you first.

You need to prepare a CSV or XLXS file to upload for Signals and it must contain at least: 

Column headings in the first row

This is so you can easily identify each of your columns when you’re mapping them in the next step.

A date column

The date column will become the main dimension used in finding matching events whenever you run a Signal. It should contain the date-based information that’s most important to your business, like transaction dates or check-in dates. 

It's best to format dates as: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss

For example, 2015-12-25 08:30:00

However, we accept a broad range of other common date formats too. 

A unique ID column

Your unique ID differentiates one transaction from the rest, which means we can isolate your data right down to a single transaction and ignore duplicates.

Latitude/longitude coordinates

Remember, Signals takes your location and analyses what local and global events have impacted you in the past and could do so again in the future. If you don’t know the exact latitude/longitude details, the centre of your city or country, for example, will work just as well.

Please make sure that both your latitude and longitude columns do not contain any symbols or letters.

Additional columns

For more enhanced information, you could also include additional columns like initiated dates (a transaction date, like when a customer placed a booking or made a purchase) or completion dates (like a check-out date for accommodation bookings or a drop-off date for car rentals). If you do provide more information than just date, unique ID and latitude/longitude coordinates, these columns will become filters.

Make sure that your file contains at least over 4 weeks worth of transactional data.
